Add Styles To Style Groups

  1. Click "Edit Styles" in the Black menu or "Click Here To Edit Default Styles & Add Styles" if it is at the top of the page you are on. They both take you to the default Styles page.
  2. There will be 2 Select Menus with the available style groups in them.
    1. In the table in the row with the input fields. You may enter a Style right away by choosing the Style Group from this menu and entering the parameters in the input fields. Note! Any "Single Style" Style Group with an ID above 50000 and a Style already in the group will not be available from this menu since only 1 style is allowed in groups with IDs of 50000 or greater.
    2. Above the beige table in the center of the screen. If you want to see the Styles in a Style Group before entering a new style, or if you wish to edit a Style, choose the Style Group from the Select Menu above the entry fields and click the Show Style Group button.
  3. Input Fields:
    • Style ID: This field MUST NOT contain any commas and should only contain letters, numbers, dashes and underscores. Styles will show in the Select Menu in the Product view sorted by the Style ID. Note that this is a Text Data Type field in the database, so you should keep this in mind when entering IDs for sorting purposes. In a Numeric Data Type field, such as we use for the Style Groups, entering IDs of 1 thru 30 will be sorted 1 thru 30. In a Text Data Type field, it is sorted alphabetically (1 comes before 2, therefore 10 comes before 2, etc.), so entering 1 thru 30 would result in 1, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 2, 20, etc. Therefore if you use numbers, they should be padded with zeroes. Use as many zeroes as necessary so the smallest number has as many characters as the largest number. Entering Style IDs of 1 thru 150, you would enter them as 001, 002, 003, ..., 148, 159, 150. This will sort them correctly.
    • Style Name:

In "Multiple Style" Style Groups, the Style Name will appear in the Select Menu. Pull down the menu below to see the example.

Upon ordering, if the customer selected Bronze Box, the selection would appear in their basket as:
      Packaging: Bronze Box

In Yes/No "Single Style" Style Groups, this will be the text that appears with the radio button. In the example below "Optional Gift Wrapping" is the Style Name within a Style Group named "Gift Wrapping".

Add Optional Gift Wrapping for $2.00?
      Yes   No

If "Yes" were checked upon ordering, the item would appear in the shopper's basket as:
      Gift Wrapping: Yes

In Input Text "Single Style" Style Groups (ID of 50000 or higher), this will be the text that appears with the text field. In the example below "Text To Be Monogrammed" is the Style Name within a Style Group named "Monogram".

Enter Text To Be Monogrammed Below:

Upon ordering, if the customer entered Jow Smith, the item would appear in their cart as: Monogram: Joe Smith

In the example below, this is how the product would appear in the cart and in the e-mail confirmations if it had 3 style groups. The first line is the Product Name. The 2nd line is the option chosen from a "Multiple Style" Style Group. The 3rd line is if the customer clicked "Yes" on a Yes/No "Single Style" Style Group. And the 4th line is how it would appear if the customer entered his name as "Joe Smith" in an Input Field "Single Style" Style Group (ID of 50000 or more).

      Spun Glass Peacock
      Packaging: Bronze Box
      Gift Wrapping: Yes
      Monogram: Joe Smith

    • Price: Actual Price or Percentage of Item Price + Size Surcharge, if any (see Price As Actual/Percent under Add Style Groups). Enter only numbers and decimals here. For numbers above 1,000, enter as 1000 without the comma. Note concerning prices: You may set the base price of the item at $0.00. Then in the product view, where the price would normally be, it will say See Menu, with the Style Select Menu showing as...
      [Style Name] - $5.00.
If the base price of the item is greater than $0.00, the Style Select Menu will show...
      [Style Name] - Add $5.00
For obvious reasons, you do not want to use Percent as the Style Pricing option if you set the base price at $0.00, unless you have multiple sizes and set the base price to $0.00 and set a price on each size. Remember, when using Percent, the Size Surcharge of the chosen size is calculated into the base price of the item.
    • Weight: Shipping Weight of the Style in pounds or your weight unit. Again, this is added to the weight of the item if this Style is selected.
    • Show (Yes/No): If you set a value in the Link Text field (see Link Text under Add Style Groups), every Style in the Group that you set the value to Yes on will show when clicking the link containing the Link Text. It's easy to forget, so remember to check the Yes button if you want the Style to show. To add the pictures, first name them as [Style ID].jpg. Example: If the Style ID is ABC, the image must be a jpg and would be named ABC.jpg. The images will be uploaded to the stylechart folder inside the ezcart folder. Pictures should be no wider than 200 pixels if possible as we show them 3 across. If you need to make them larger, let us know and we'll edit the stylechart.cfm file for you to show 1 or 2 images to a row, or you can edit it if you're comfortable with ColdFusion.
  4. Click the "Add Style" button and the Style is Created.

Not that you've created a Style, see "Style Editing Shortcuts".
